Continuing Your Healing in Bali: Why We've Partnered with Desa Seni

Finishing a programme at Holistic Recovery Bali is a big moment. After weeks of hard, honest work, you feel clearer and steadier, and often more like yourself than you have in years.

For many of our clients, it's also a moment when they don't feel quite ready to get on a plane. Going straight from the quiet of treatment back to a busy city, a full inbox and old routines can feel like a lot, all at once.

So a number of our clients choose to stay on the island for a while. They want time to practise what they've learned in a calm, supportive setting before returning to everyday life. That's why we've partnered with Desa Seni, a wellness village in the mountains of Bali whose work we admire.

Why some clients stay on in Bali after treatment

The early weeks after treatment are when new habits are still settling in. The skills you've built, from managing cravings to calming your nervous system, need practice in real life, not just in the treatment room.

Staying on in Bali can give you a middle step between residential care and home:

  • Time to consolidate. A few more weeks of daily yoga, breathwork, good food and rest helps new routines become second nature.

  • Space to reflect. Without the pressure of work and home, you can think clearly about what you want your life to look like next.

  • Gentle independence. You make your own choices each day, but in a setting built around wellbeing, not temptation.

  • A softer landing. When you do fly home, you arrive rested and grounded, not straight out of an intensive programme.

About Desa Seni

Desa Seni describes itself as a living wellness village. It sits in the cool, green mountains of Baturiti, in Bali's central highlands, far from the crowds of the south coast. Nature, wellness, art, culture and community come together there in a place designed to be lived in, not just visited.

It's a natural fit for the next stage of recovery. Here's what guests can expect:

  • Yoga and movement. Daily classes range from dynamic to restorative, with private one-to-one sessions available. There are also private yoga and meditation retreats, and a five-day Digital Detox & Inner Reset.

  • Wellness and bodywork. Sauna, therapeutic massage, reflexology, traditional body scrubs and holistic treatments help the body keep recovering.

  • Food grown on site. Meals start in Desa Seni's own organic gardens. Guests can join cooking classes and learn about forest farming and Indonesian food.

  • Creativity. Rumah Seni, the on-site art centre, runs hands-on sessions with local artists and visiting artists in residence. Creating with your hands can be a powerful, wordless way to process what you've been through.

  • Culture and nature. The team can arrange private day trips to quiet waterfalls such as Nungnung and Banyumala, natural hot springs, the Bedugul botanical gardens, a sunrise boat ride at Ulun Danu temple and a traditional melukat water blessing.

  • Community and giving back. Desa Seni supports local causes, including Yayasan Solemen, which helps disadvantaged people in Bali, and Nazava water filters for local families.

How it supports your recovery

The daily rhythm at Desa Seni mirrors much of what our clients practise during treatment at HRB:

  • Breathwork, yoga and mindfulness continue the nervous-system work started in your sessions with us.

  • Regular movement and good sleep keep mood and energy steady, which matters in early recovery.

  • Nourishing, whole food keeps rebuilding a body that's been through a lot.

  • Connection and purpose, through community, culture and creativity, fill the space the old habits used to take up.

Just as important is what's missing: deadlines, old social circles and the routines tied to drinking or using. That gives you room to practise your new routines before real-life pressure comes back.

Planning your stay with us

A stay at Desa Seni is a wellness stay, not a clinical programme. It works best as part of your aftercare plan, not instead of it. Before you leave HRB, we'll help you work out:

  1. Whether staying on is right for you, and for how long.

  2. How it fits your aftercare plan, including check-ins with our team while you're there.

  3. What support you'll have, from meetings and ongoing sessions to who to call if things feel shaky.

  4. The practical side, including transfers, visas and timing your flight home.

If you'd like extra structured support before flying home, our 4-Week Outpatient Care Package is also available in Bali, and it can be combined with time at Desa Seni.

Frequently asked questions

Can HRB still support me while I'm at Desa Seni? Yes. Your aftercare plan, check-ins and any ongoing sessions continue while you're on the island.

How do I book? Talk to our team first, and we'll help you plan a stay that fits your recovery.
